Global Warming?
Or is it Climate Change?, Global Cooling maybe? Just what is causing this change? I have no idea but when its pinned squarly and exclusively on human action/inaction I’m still not convinced. In the past our atmosphere has contained far higher levels of Co2. In terms of planet wide Co2 production human activity produces relatively little Co2.
If its all our fault why are the other planets in our Solar System also displaying Climate Change? Take this recent event on Jupiter …
“For about 300 years Jupiter’s banded atmosphere has shown a remarkable feature to telescopic viewers, a large swirling storm system known as The Great Red Spot. In 2006, another red storm system appeared, actually seen to form as smaller whitish oval-shaped storms merged and then developed the curious reddish hue. Now, Jupiter has a third red spot, again produced from a smaller whitish storm. The spots extend above the surrounding clouds and their red color may be due to deeper material dredged up by the storms and exposed to ultraviolet light, but the exact chemical process is still unknown. For scale, the Great Red Spot has almost twice the diameter of planet Earth, making both new spots less than one Earth-diameter across. The newest red spot is along the same band of clouds as the Great Red Spot and is drifting toward it. If the motion continues, the new spot will encounter the much larger storm system in August 2008. Jupiter’s recent outbreak of red spots is likely related to large scale climate change as the gas giant planet is getting warmer near the equator.” Credit NASA, ESA, M. Over the last few years I’ve read NASA articles about Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Murcury and even Pluto experiencing Climate Change in the shape of them getting warmer. WHY? That has NOTHING to do with us driving around in our cars, burning fossil fuels for energy production, intercontinental flights or anything else remotely human. Look at the size of those storms in the photograph … that large storm is nearly TWICE the size of our whole planet. As far as I’m concerned I find it easier to believe that this is ALL related to a much larger pattern of something that we can’t possibly measure or test since its too large for our juvenile science to have mapped, prodded, speculated on and modelled. I think its all about the Sun.
Over the last few years the Sun has done some unprecedented things. So what? I just said that our science is too young to know what is out of the ordinary since we haven’t been aware of commonplace extraordinary events to know the difference between the two. Call it a hunce!! After all we are only here because of the Sun so for me, logically speaking, to see something happening the length and breadth of our solar system must have at least something to do with the Sun …
Over the last few years the Sun has produced X-Class flares that are instruments weren’t designed to be capable of measuring. Some scientists estimated those flares to be in the category of X-50 (some even suggested X-70!!!) our instruments are designed to measure a maximum X-20 and that gives you some idea of just how powerful we are talking here. This is an incomprehesible explosion of energy from the Sun in one huge blast.
So … What is causing that to happen???
There is no doubt the human race needs to clean up its act … big time … but as for Climate Change … I think its bigger than us … bigger than our cars … bigger than our planes … bigger than our air-con … in fact you could argue that blaming ourselves for this is yet another display of our arrogance, self-importance and complacency in that we are the center of our own Universe and the subjects of nothing but ourselves.
